From Cole National to EyeMed, find out how John House continues to rock on after 25 years

Luxottica acquired Cole National in 2004. Cole National owned Cole Managed Vision in addition to Pearle Vision® and Target Optical®. At the time, they also owned Sears Optical® and Things Remembered®.

What was your first job at Luxottica?

25 years ago, I started out at Cole National as a managed vision care sales rep, before Luxottica acquired it and before selling vision benefits was cool.

What do you do at EyeMed now?

I was very fortunate to have been able to transition from Cole Vision to EyeMed and I’m thankful to have been able to sell the hottest product in the vision benefits market and achieve success since 1995. Today, as senior director, national sales accounts in the Eastern region, I’m responsible for selling to large national employers with 20,000 eligible employees.

What is your favorite thing about working at EyeMed?

I love being part of an organization that’s innovative, aggressive, open to new ideas and determined to be the leader in its industry.

What advice would you give to a new member of the EyeMed team?

I would say that you have to recognize you’re part of a great organization with tremendous career and personal resources at your disposal. Take advantage of each opportunity to engage and learn.

What EyeMed characteristic do you identify with the most?

Bold. You can’t be shy in the sales world.

EyeMed’s best-kept secret is…

Our people. No question that our team/organization is encouraging, caring, supportive and innovative while not losing sight of our true purpose to help the world see.

My favorite Spotify/Pandora channel is…

Mark Knopfler radio! He’s a British singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer from Dire Straits fame. If you don’t know who he is, you’re really missing out.
